YoungBoy Never Broke Again is certainly a one-of-a-kind, extraordinary musician, despite his violent temperament and multiple controversies. The 22-year-old Baton Rouge rapper has faced adversity throughout his life and career, but his trials have helped him grow into a rare type of musician who can both dig into his emotional sensitivity and create playlist-appropriate music to listen to while driving. YoungBoy continues to release some of his best music after his release from prison last year, including the introspective “Heart & Soul.”
While he doesn’t dive as deep into his emotions on his new single “Foolish Figure,” he does question his status as a “superstar” in the lyrics, preferring to refer to himself as a “foolish figure.” In the first line, he claims he’s not proud of himself before assuring his supporters that he’s not powerful, but rather broken.
YoungBoy appears to be in a difficult situation. Thankfully, he has his musical outlet to help him work through his feelings.
“I say what I want, I go where I want, f*ck these n***as, I ain’t going to say too much love y’all,” YB stated in the YouTube video’s caption.
Listen to the song below and keep an eye out for the rapper’s next mixtape, which is set to drop in the next two weeks.
